Privacy Policy
Provided by AutoMechanics LLC
This Privacy Policy describes how AutoMechanics LLC (“AutoMechanics,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles personal information in connection with the AutoMechanics marketplace app. Privacy requests must be sent to [email protected]. It reflects practices implemented in the current product architecture and must be updated if integrations change.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
- Display/legal name
- Firebase Authentication UID
- Preferred language
- Profile photo URL (if uploaded)
- Account role
- Email verification status
Vehicle and Job Information
- Vehicle details you submit
- Job descriptions
- Service requests
- Quotes
- Job status events
- Photos you upload for jobs/disputes
- Related marketplace records
Location
When you grant permission or enter an address, we may process precise or approximate service location, distance/matching inputs, and — for Mechanics during applicable job activity — presence/location used for nearby jobs, routing, progress, and safety/fraud support. Manual address entry may be available where location permission is declined for certain flows.
Communications
In-app job and pre-booking marketplace messages, support tickets, dispute communications, and related metadata. Messages may be processed automatically for safety, fraud prevention, harassment detection, marketplace integrity, fee-circumvention detection, and policy enforcement. AutoMechanics does not claim that in-app messages are completely private.
Payment Information
Payment credentials are processed by Stripe (where configured). AutoMechanics stores payment status, amounts, fee breakdowns, payout/onboarding status fields, and Stripe account/reference identifiers — not full payment-card numbers in ordinary app data stores.
Mechanic Verification
Identity/verification status fields, license/insurance/certification status and related metadata, background-check status and provider reference identifiers when a provider is configured, and consent timestamps. AutoMechanics is not designed to store raw Social Security numbers in ordinary Firestore user documents.
Technical Information
Device/platform (e.g., iOS/Android), app version associated with legal acceptances, and operational logs necessary to run Firebase Auth/Firestore/Functions. Push notification tokens may be stored if push is enabled in a given build.
2. How We Use Information
We use information to:
- Operate the marketplace
- Authenticate users
- Match jobs
- Process payments and payouts
- Enable messaging
- Provide support
- Conduct safety and fraud prevention (including automated review of marketplace communications)
- Manage verification
- Enforce policies
- Comply with law
- Improve reliability
Analytics/crash tooling is used only if actually configured in a given build.
3. Sharing
We may share information with:
- Stripe and related payment infrastructure
- Google Firebase / Google Cloud services powering Auth, Firestore, Functions, and Storage
- Map/location providers used by the app (e.g., Google Maps via react-native-maps / Expo Location)
- Verification or background-check providers when configured
- Customers and Mechanics as needed to perform a job
- Professional advisers
- Authorities when required by law
- Successors in a lawful business transfer
We do not claim a categorical “we never sell personal information” statement unless a current SDK/architecture audit continues to support that statement for the shipping build.
4. Retention
Retention depends on purpose, legal obligations, accounting/payment needs, disputes, fraud prevention, and safety. Retention periods depend on the purpose of the data and applicable legal requirements.
5. Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards appropriate to a cloud marketplace. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure.
6. Your Choices and Rights
You may update certain profile information in-app and initiate account deletion requests via Account & Data / Delete My Account. For data-access requests, correction requests, deletion questions, privacy questions, or consent questions, contact [email protected]. Additional rights may apply depending on your jurisdiction.
7. Children
The Service is intended for adults 18+. We do not knowingly design the Service for children.
8. Changes
We will update the effective/last-updated dates when this Policy changes. Material changes may require renewed acknowledgment where configured.
